Last night I attended
PanEx 2011 organized by
UX YEG, Edmonton's User Experience community group. The event brought together local developers and product owners with members of the user experience community, to review locally developed websites and hear feedback from a panel of user experience experts. It was a valuable opportunity to hear the panel discuss the usability, functionality, visual aesthetics and potential market value (among many other things) of the presented sites, areas that they are all very knowledgeable in and passionate about. The panel consisted of:
The presented websites/web applications were all very unique and each brought something different to the event. They included:
- Edistorm, an online brainstorming tool (virtual sticky notes!)
- Solvers Market (currently in beta), a question and answer community specializing in complex math and engineering equations
- Chambers Plan, a website for the Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan
- Inkdit, an online solution for sending and signing contracts
At the end of the evening we headed over to The Pint for post-event drinks and I had the opportunity to talk with some of the presenters and meet some new people from the Edmonton UX community. On top of all this, my Caesar came garnished with pepperoni and the Oilers shut out the Kings. All in all, a pretty great night.
