UX Designer

We’re hiring a user experience designer to work out of our Edmonton office. The ideal candidate will have a creative skill set and keen understanding of human experience and behavior. Within these teams, members of our Design group play a critical role in each and every project, ensuring that the work we produce is supported by principles, and delivers on the needs and expectations of end users and the business. Working alongside our Strategy and Technology teams, our designers contribute an innate understanding of form and function to ensure our work is always thoughtful, intuitive, and innovative.


  • Collaborate with clients, analysts and other designers to identify the best solutions to a problem
  • Create usable and visually compelling interfaces for web sites, web applications, mobile apps and other systems
  • Design the interaction model for the mobile/web/embedded solution
  • Conduct co-creation, user research and usability testing sessions with end-users and/or clients
  • Conduct workshops & brainstorming sessions with internal design team members or with clients to define design direction and concepts
  • Create clear and effective design documentation, such as user scenarios, personas and wireframes
  • Create diagrams or illustrations to communicate complex ideas in a simple format
  • Build prototypes of your designs, including using HTML/CSS/JavaScript

Successful candidates will have

  • Two years experience as a user experience designer, visual designer, front-end developer working on web sites, web applications, mobile applications or related products
  • General understanding of user experience design processes and methods
  • Understanding of visual design systems and their creation
  • An up-to-date portfolio that shows your skills in interface/interaction design and includes examples of the artifacts you created while working toward a finished product (e.g. sketches, wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes)
  • An interest in working from research and evaluating your design ideas
  • An interest in working on complex design problems that cover web, mobile and sometimes physical experiences
  • A curious mind and a questioning disposition
  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite, Omnigraffle (or Visio), Microsoft Office, Sharpies and post-it notes
  • A bit of Bootstrap, WordPress, or Foundation skill isn’t required, but sure couldn’t hurt
  • Some under-the-hood knowledge (e.g. HTML, CSS)
  • Able to travel occasionally
  • Degree or diploma in visual design or a related field
